My own interest in custom-built furniture goes back to the grass roots of my family history with timber.

Although I was dealing with the commercial distribution of timber, I couldn't help notice the magical aesthetic qualities each individual species had. It wasn't until my father commissioned some cherry office furniture from our own stock that I realised the true potential of such a versatile material.

There seemed no better way of celebrating the life of a 200 year old tree than shaping and crafting a piece of contemporary furniture from it's trunk, giving a family another two hundred years of enjoyment.

Between 2000 and 2006 I based my work at The Woodschool near Jedburgh. I have since joined the workshops of The Galgael Trust in Glasgow where I continue to design and make my own furniture, as well as assisting with Galgael projects.
